Apart from the all new stunning piece of engineering that is the last creation by Apple, the iPhone 4, that surely everyone will talk about.. I wanna talk about one particular new feature for this device, Apple calls it FaceTime, but as a matter of fact it’s simply videocalls.
Not so many years ago many mobile devices manufactures together with some carriers tried to launch videocalls, but apart probably from Japan they have not been a great success..
Now this makes me ask a question.. Why?
Well I think it’s all a matter of costs.. How much does a videocall costs? Probably too much you will say.. 🙂

We can’t know if it is a fake or if Apple is going to imporving the iPad functionality. By the way, the answer is incomplete, so that the new answer to ask to iCEO is, “When will it come?”
It’s not any news that the new advertising system designed by Apple, iAd, is going to be under the attention of the Federal antitrust commission as reported by the Wall Street Journal. You probably already heard about this.
In my humble opinion there’s no reason why they should fear the entrance of a big company like Apple in the advertising market. It’s ok that they control that everything is done legally and without any secret agreement with Google (as you know the Google’s CEO was in the Apple’s board of directors), but I don’t understand why every time a big company wants to expand its affairs, quite everyone accuse it of antitrust problems.
Prices to enter in the iAd program are the most expensive in its sector (there are also a lot of arguments about this topic). Only big companies with a lot of advertising budget can afford it and that’s the Apple’s target!! they want to do a lot of extra revenues from the iPhone and iPad and they have created the way: iAd. It’s expensive? It doesn’t mind! because they know that surely there’s someone out there that is available to invest a lot of money in it. They know very well their potential and the diffusion power of their devices, and a big firm ready to invest lots of their resources to do some marketing policy knows that as well.
The other smaller companies are cut off from the iAd service, but for the moment they do not concern Apple. If they want to advertise there are many other ways, or they could simply continue to do like they have done until now, like applying to any other advertising service, as the Google/Admob one. Jobs has been very clear on this point.
So by now there should not be any fear that Apple could seize the market.
Steve Jobs during the iPad presentation said: “Netbooks aren’t better than anything. They’re just cheap laptops.”… And in my opinion he is totally right…

When it was revealed for the first time, we and some other bloggers around the world wrote a lot of stuffs about iPad. Some plus, some minus and a lot of doubts.
Now we’ve got some numbers and this is the simple result:

I’m taking a lot of my time thinking in these days, not that I don’t do it frequently but I’m giving it a very wide space in this period and taking it very seriously and it’s giving me a lot of the answers I need. I also want to thank one of my best friends who’s giving me the necessary support to go on when I fall down.
After this little digression about my life I wanna talk about about Apple, again. Yes, again because as you might have noticed I love this company, its products and the way they implement and bring on their ideas. They are taking their amount time to think like me as well, and whenever they present their new ideas, they do it greatly.
Yesterday Steve presented the 4th version of his OS for the iPhone. And he came across with some very nice new features that everybody was asking and waiting for, like multitasking. They’ve done it in a way that no other company is capable of, and I’m not talking as a fanboy or somewhat. They examined all the pros and cons that multitasking gives and developed it trying to delete all the problems it could give, like battery life. They managed to optimize the operating system to their hardware in order to get the most out of it. Like they do with with Macs. Apple is great in doing this job.
The other thing I want to talk about is iAd. With this platform Apple is entering in a totally new branch for them: Advertising. Putting the foot in Google’s (and maybe also Facebook) sector, that will be surely eating their fingers :). They have found a way to implement ads directly into the iPhone OS, giving the opportunity to advertisers and developers to take advantage of the huge amount of iPhones around the world and therefore widen their target to make some money. For the devs it’s a fantastic thing because Apple is giving them the 60% of their revenues from the in app ads, and even a small dev-house could take advantage of the spread of the iPhone without great effort. Without forgetting of the revenues coming from the app store. For the other companies it’s a great way and a new and so vast channel to advertise their products.
From the economic point of view (that is the one I am more interested in) iAd it’s another great step that Apple has done after the iTunes Store, the App store and the iBooks store. The way this company works it’s simply astonishing and fascinating
